Collections Archivist/Associate Professor (October 2014 – July 2020)

Developed and managed collections related to the history of minoritized and marginalized groups. Acquired, processed, managed, and developed access tools for the International Archives of Women in Architecture (IAWA) collections. Assisted virtual and in-person researchers with requests for IAWA materials and general SCUA holdings. Designed and installed exhibits.  Taught instructional sessions on demand and participated in various outreach activities and events. Managed digitization grants, developed digital tools to improve access to collections, and worked with other stakeholders to manage digital assets.

Archives Assistant (September 2011 – September 2014)

Processed, arranged, preserved, and described manuscript collections and archival records. Assisted University Archivist in supervising interns and student workers. Designed and built exhibits for permanent and temporary display. Coordinated social media outreach across Twitter and Facebook and contributed to department blog. Assisted patrons with advanced research inquiries. Participated in library planning and outreach events such as Banned Books Week.

Undergraduate Research Assistant (January 2010 – September 2011)
University Archives and Special Collections Department, University of Texas at Tyler, Tyler, TX

Assisted archives researchers with inquiries. Processed, arranged, and described manuscript collections, legislative records, and archival records. Helped arrange Tim Anthony Jackson collection of political campaign memorabilia, comprised of over 10,000 unique items. Supervised the reading room and answering phones. Produced DACS-compliant finding aids in Archon and Archivist’s Toolkit.

Selected Accomplishments:

  • Created, coordinated, and helped execute a weeding process for the ERIC microfiche collection for the Reference Department.
  • Created an inventory of electronic and paper library vendor records for the Electronic Resources Librarian. Populated an open source database with contact information for vendors and distributors.

Museum Intern (January 2011-May 2011)
Parrott Park and Old Mill Pond Museum, Lindale, TX

Described, appraised, and cataloged the contents of the Blacksmith Shop. Assembled resource guides for future interns and recommended standard practices. Digitized research binder for enduring access. Answered public inquiries about local blacksmith history and the individual items in the shop during outreach events.

Assisted library patrons with research inquiries. Updated patron and holdings records in Sirsi. Proctored public outreach programs. Supervised the audiovisual room. Processed holds and request-to-buy forms. Conducted regular shelf-reading and weeding. Instructed patrons in proper library and computer procedures.

Selected Accomplishments:

  • Implemented a new system for storing and accessing Playaways (a stand-alone mp3 audiobook device) which made them easier and faster to check out to patrons.
  • Developed and implemented a successful system for weeding new books from the lobby display, which significantly reduced clutter and patron complaints.

Student Assistant (August 2007-December 2007)
Texas Heritage Music Foundation, Schreiner University, Kerrville, TX

Populated and managed membership database. Contacted donors and performers to coordinate public events. Screened and prioritized correspondence. Initiated the organization of foundation archives. Assisted with publicity and distribution of promotional materials. Designed, edited, and distributed promotional materials for events. Facilitated the Texas Coffeehouse concert series on Schreiner University campus by promoting, setting up and breaking down facilities, performing and emceeing. Assisted with annual Texas Heritage Living History Day by contacting performers, vendors, and donors, tracking contributions, and confirming reservations.
